"May the love hidden deep inside your heart find the love waiting in your dreams. May the laughter that you find in your tomorrow wipe away the pain you find in your yesterdays."

This blog is neither pro-adoption nor anti-adoption. This is merely the story of a mother and her journey towards healing.

Aww, The LA Times is Sad. But Still Wrong.

Re: my previous post, the LA Times did not print a retraction but they posted quite a few letters which they received in response to the “article”. I think that takes a lot of balls but their sorry excuse for an “apology” still leaves me thinking, “Man, these guys are assholes.”

Editor’s reply: The editors and writer Leslie Gornstein were satirizing a specific person, Angelina Jolie, who had remarked that her next adoption would depend on “which country, which race would fit best with the kids.” The satire was in no way intended to be a commentary on all individuals who adopt.

My reply to that? Satirize an entire race or religion and see what kind of response that gets. I know! Let’s make fun of families! I mean, sure, there are children involved, but, screw it! Who cares!

Shouldn’t we be thinking to ourselves, “Hey, ya know what? It’s pretty cool that Angelina and Brad are aware that they should be adopting a child that fits their family both in terms of race, gender, age, etc instead of just saying, “WEE! WE CAN GET BABIEZZZZ!” Yeah. Let’s make fun of people for doing their research and making responsible, well-informed choices for their own family.

Because it’s nice.
