"May the love hidden deep inside your heart find the love waiting in your dreams. May the laughter that you find in your tomorrow wipe away the pain you find in your yesterdays."

This blog is neither pro-adoption nor anti-adoption. This is merely the story of a mother and her journey towards healing.

Score!

We’re taking the three kids to Baby Loves Disco. They’re wearing matching shirts (two blue, one pink) that say, “(TheirName) brought sexy back.” We’re awfully clever. AND, AND! We’ll be meeting Kateri (aka Wet Feet) and her crew as well! (Thank goodness for the wonders of Google talk and my busy message that reads “I’m in Philly :)”… otherwise, I wouldn’t have remembered that she lives in Philly and we would have missed one another.)

Oh happy fun day with the kids!

(Mean-Molar-Toddler is actually napping as well. SHOCKING!)

The Lies They Were Told

D, J and I are sitting in their living room, three laptops on three laps. (Three babies are sleeping in three bedrooms.) As per usual, discussion turned to adoption at one point. As per usual, it became a kvetching fest about the less-than-ethical agency (ANLC). We were discussing the things that they did and said to J and D, the things that they told them to do that make our skin crawl.

D: Yeah, they told us, “If the “birth mother” (air quotes) says she wants to name the baby, just go ahead and agree and then you can change the name and she’ll never know.

Munchkin’sFirstMom: Yeah, because they told you I’d fade away and lose interest.

D: And here you are in my living room!

It’s also very validating to know that they both detest the agency as much as I do.  Of course, they told them to “play down” the fact that J has three sons from a previous marriage. But I wanted the Munchkin to have siblings. And when I found out that they were biracial, BADDA-BING folks.

In short, don’t listen to ANLC, whatever you do. And come join us for late night adoption gossip. If you’ve written something about adoption in the past week, you’ve been discussed tonight. Mostly good. ;)
