Hi all,

I’m a volunteer (having recently termed off the Board) with Backline and was just backtracking some of the links from Google Analytics when I saw a good number of links coming from this site. I saw some questions about who we are and wanted to invite more conversation if anyone is interested in learning more about our small but mighty organization.

As was noted, we did co-sponsor a very successful Adoption Dialogue workshop last fall with Oregon’s Open Adoption and Family Services and it was considered highly successful by the 75+ attendees who flew in from all over the country to participate. (Yes, we are a pro-choice organization. And I can safely say that our wonderful, amazing and dedicated volunteers don’t steer anyone towards any unethical organizations!)

On a personal note, my husband and I are currently reviewing our various adoption options, so I am very pleased to have found your site and this new network of resources that I can use during this overwhelming process :-)

They sound as though they have many ties to Planned Parenthood and are pro-choice. I saw mention of an adoption dialogue that was held last year (I think it was) and they are making some comparisions about the stigmas of abortion and adoption and how women are manipulated in both. Sounds like they want to learn more about adoption, and are lacking in info about it. The event was co-sponsored by an adoption agency in Oregon that does mainly open adoptions.

Not quite certain what to make of them….I am ambivalent. Lots of comments on their site sounded very encouraging, but……need to investigate more.

It seems as if their focus is abortion, prevention of AIDS, condom use, etc. I’m still wandering around the site.

At first I was confused. Your short post sounds as though you had a negative reaction to the Backline post and were suspicious of them. Then I saw the comment that you left.

I think it sounds like a fantastic organization.
