The boys and I baked cupcakes this afternoon in honor of Munchkin’s birthday tomorrow. When I say this afternoon and then you see them in their pajamas, I’d like to point out that it’s Saturday. I was solo parenting for two weeks, my husband came home last night and then got to go back to work today. We’re tired. It’s cold outside. Pajamas are warm and comfortable and oh-so-easy.
And cake batter is good.

I don’t know where they learn this…

This isn’t a particularly great photo in terms of focus or my youngest son’s facial expression but I still love it. They loved making these cupcakes. My oldest son understood that they were for Munchkin and that they were for her birthday. I wanted to remember that they both helped… eat batter.

My house smells like there will be a celebration here tomorrow.

And in some ways, there will be. Just not the same kind that everyone else gets to have when their child marks another year.

Today has proven to be harder than I expected. I’m not particularly looking forward to tomorrow. But at least I have some delicious cupcakes to devour. Yes? Yes.

those are suspiciously amazing looking cupcakes,
frosted, and pre- frosted,
but especially for someone who proudly claims
the title uncrafty,
those are spectacular looking creations
